Disabilities Equity in Education, Training and Employment Charter

Committee Purpose/Scope

The GWDB approved an Equity Committee to address Disparities for Individuals with Disabilities in Training and Employment at its June 14, 2017 meeting. Planning is underway by GWDB leadership and support staff to organize and convene this group's first meeting.

Our scope is to establish leadership and an operational framework to:

1. Identify gaps in services, service delivery and resources.
2. Identify policies and practices that impact individuals with disabilities in training and employment, and analyze the role that those policies have in disability disparities.
3. Facilitate the use of data and research to address gaps and to connect opportunities for targeted communities to resource pipelines, including financial.
4. Make recommendations for community engagement and how to define success.
5. Define progress milestones and outcome/result measures.

Mission/Vision

Our mission is to identify strategies to make informed, actionable and measurable solutions to address disparities in training and employment.

Our vision is an equitable Minnesota where barriers to meaningful employment for individuals with a disability are eliminated and where employers support inclusion and provide comparable wages to align with an individual’s ability.

Committee Charter is in the process of being revised. An updated charter will be posted soon.
