    We're building a vibrant, diverse team to more fully serve Minnesotans who are blind, DeafBlind, low vision, or who have a print disability. We have a staff of about 130, a dedicated group of about 650 volunteers, an active council guiding our work, and numerous community partners who help us carry out our mission.     SSB is part of the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). With about 1,400 employees, DEED is the state's principal economic development agency. DEED programs promote business recruitment, expansion, and retention; international trade; workforce development; and community development.

    Tips on Applying

    1. When submitting your resumé, make sure to fully address how you meet the minimum qualifications. Using plain language and being as clear and specific as possible will help us understand how you meet these requirements. If your experience, skills, or training match any of the preferred qualifications, address these in the same clear and direct manner.
    2. In order to review all applications equitably, we only accept resumés that are laid out chronologically. We cannot accept resumés that have an experience-based structure.
    3. After the closing date for accepting applications, we begin the process of reviewing all submissions. This process may take some time. If a position is no longer listed in the Careers Portal, it does not mean that the position has been filled, only that the period for submitting applications has ended. If you've applied for a position, we thank you for your patience as we carefully review all candidates.
    4. If you have a disability, you may choose to apply through Minnesota's Connect 700 program. For some individuals with disabilities, traditional interviewing, assessment, selection, and testing methods may not accurately measure their skills and abilities to perform the required job responsibilities. Connect 700 provides another path to a state job for people with certain disabilities. Note that a Proof of Eligibility certificate is required for the Connect 700 program.
