Launch Minnesota: Help Shape Minnesota's Startup Ecosystem

6/27/2019 7:45:10 AM

Commissioner Steve Grove

Earlier this month, I wrote about the creation of Launch Minnesota, a new program at DEED designed to nurture technology startups and entrepreneurs across the state. We’re excited to get Launch Minnesota off the ground, but we need your help in building a team that can make state government a meaningful contributor to Minnesota’s startup ecosystem.

DEED is looking for an Executive Director to run Launch Minnesota, but this isn’t your typical state government job. You’ll be based in a co-working space working directly with startups and entrepreneurs every day. This is truly a unique way to help shape Minnesota’s startup ecosystem.

This executive director will be a nimble manager who thrives on purpose-driven work and has a passion for entrepreneurship. We are seeking an organized and effective leader, who has the heart of a community builder and the mind of a business leader.

If you are interested in applying, or know someone who sounds like they would be a great fit, check out mn.gov/careers and search for Position #33428. Applications are due by Wednesday, July 10, 2019.

DEED is also forming an advisory board of technology leaders from across the state to provide direction and support for Launch Minnesota. The board will include representatives from the private sector, higher education, and government.

These board members will come from both the Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota. Startup ecosystem builders all across Minnesota should have a role in the creation of this program. I’m hopeful this advisory board will give interested individuals anywhere in the state the chance to get involved.

We encourage applicants to submit materials by Thursday, August 1, 2019. For more information or to apply, go to Launch Minnesota in the Boards & Commissions section of the Minnesota Secretary of State Office website.

We look forward to hearing from you!
