Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) - August 2023

The unemployment rate rose to 3.1% in Minnesota in August, on a seasonally adjusted basis.

The number of unemployed rose to 97,038 workers, and the number of employed dipped slightly to 3,015,707. The labor force grew to 3,112,745 workers, and the labor force participation rate held at 68.5%.

The U.S. unemployment rate rose to 3.8% in August, on a seasonally adjusted basis. The labor force participation rate rose to 62.8%.
