Marsden Building Maintenance, LLC

Last year I started looking for ways to connect job seekers with our positions in our outer-ring suburban areas. I’ve been able to make connections with the vocational rehabilitation (VR) community which has made recruiting and hiring 100% easier for me. They’d have to pay me to give up these relationships.

Within all of the vocational rehabilitation agencies I’ve found a strong positive attitude to make things work -- and it does work. It’s what I expect and it’s what I get.

We’ve probably had 6-15 hires in the last year through my relationships with the VR agencies, but I’m guessing it’s probably twice that amount. I find it helpful that the employment specialists know about our jobs and relay the expectations to the candidates beforehand.

Building relationships with the VR community improves employer brand awareness in the community. That is of great value, especially when we have a tough time finding employees. I am just one recruiter but from a sheer statistical standpoint when I connect with the placement partnership organizations my outreach activity gets multiplied many times over. I end up having all these people actually recruiting for me. This puts our company in the right position and sets us up for success. That’s of huge value.
