Gender Differences in Career Choices

Minnesota is embarking on a unique public policy solution to occupational segregation: The Women in Nontraditional Jobs training program. The program provides training to women in high-wage jobs in which they are underrepresented.

Having served over 130 participants to date, it is one of DEED's smaller employment and training programs. But first results show that the women who are successfully trained in nontraditional jobs are finding employment in those sectors.
