We’re Hiring for a Director for State Services for the Blind

7/10/2019 10:00:00 AM

Workforce Services Assistant Commissioner Carol Pankow

DEED is looking for a passionate leader to serve as the next director of State Services for the Blind (SSB). SSB serves Minnesotans who are blind, visually impaired or DeafBlind by removing barriers to employment, as well as providing the printed word in accessible formats for persons with print disabilities.

The director should be someone who believes in the power of all Minnesotans to contribute to our economy and communities. Relationship-building is key in this role. The ideal candidate is someone who has experience working with persons who are blind or visually impaired, and the capacity to develop strong strategic partnerships with other state agencies, public officials, businesses and community organizations.

The director will develop and manage an $18 million budget, including grants from federal, state, and private sources, as well as a variety of nationally renowned programs.

If you are interested in applying, or know someone who would be interested in this work, check out mn.gov/careers and search for Position #33707. Applications are due by Wednesday, July 17, 2019.

Having vision loss shouldn’t stop someone from living a successful, independent life – and it should never be used to hold people back from employment. If you understand the importance of accessibility and will be a tireless champion for the disability community, we would love to have you join our team at DEED!

Carol Pankow, Assistant Commissioner of Workforce Services
