We’re Looking for an Executive Director, Business Development Office

8/7/2019 12:00:00 PM

Deputy Commissioner Kevin McKinnon

Minnesota ranks highest in the Midwest in CNBC’s 2019 America’s Top States for Business – and that just doesn’t happen organically. It takes mighty resolve and the planful work of economic developers, affiliated organizations, and cities and communities throughout the state working for One Minnesota.

Today we’re looking for an experienced, innovative economic development professional to lead our business development team, headquartered in Saint Paul.

You’ll manage a portfolio that includes notable programs and services such as statewide business development efforts, small business development, training grant opportunities, and others. You’ll also serve as the go-to person for all domestic and international business expansion, retention and attraction projects.

Your knowledge of DEED programs, services, and other resources available to assist businesses, will ensure a smooth path for businesses engaging with us. You’ll have relevant and timely information for communities and service providers to take advantage of economic development or opportunities – and get what our community partners need to make smart growth decisions.

You understand the importance of investing in talent from rural towns to urban neighborhoods and will engage businesses and workforce development leaders in developing talent pipelines.

As our lead economic development relationship-builder, you’ll coordinate the Minnesota Marketing Partnership and DEED’s presence at conferences and trade shows.

If you are interested in applying, or know someone who sounds like they would be a great fit, check out mn.gov/careers and search for Position #34393. Applications are due by August 21, 2019.

If you have what it takes to guide the future of Minnesota’s economy, we look forward to talking with you!

– Kevin McKinnon, Deputy Commissioner of Economic Development
